Twilight -- Graphic Novel Version on the WayFrom EW.com For those of you who can’t get enough Edward and Bella, EW can announce — exclusively — that Yen Press will be publishing Twilight in graphic-novel form, publication date still to be determined. Though Korean artist Young Kim is creating the art, Meyer herself is deeply immersed in the project, reviewing every panel. Take a close look at the biology-class sketch we’ve obtained (that’s an empty dialogue bubble between their heads, if you’re wondering). What’s interesting to me is that it doesn’t look simply like an artist’s rendering of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. In fact, the characters seem to be an amalgam of Meyer’s literary imagination and the actors’ actual looks. The description of Edward from biology class: “His dazzling face was friendly; open, a slight smile on his flawless lips. But his eyes were cautious.” And Bella: “I was ivory-skinned …. I had always been slender, but soft somehow, obviously not an athlete…” To me, this graphic-novel Bella seems much closer to me to Meyer’s book than to Stewart’s sultry portrayal. The Edward shown is closer to Pattinson, but not a real duplicate; there’s something very winning in the sketch that I don’t see in Pattinson’s all-too-perfect tousled bronze locks and piercing eyes. From MTV.com Manga-Style 'Twilight' Graphic Novel On The Way "Twilight" is coming to officially coming to comics, and seeing as how comic book creations like Iron Man and the X-Men helped inspire author Stephenie Meyer to write "Twilight" in the first place, that shouldn't surprise anyone. Though movie fans won't be seeing photo-realistic versions of Meyer's characters straight off the big screen, certain features unique to "Twilight" and "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" actors such as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will influence the artistic rendering by Korean artist Young Kim. Both Meyer's original descriptions and characterizations and the actors' likenesses will influence the graphic novel's look, according to EW.com. The article states that Meyer will oversee every panel of the new project. The manga-style adaptation of Meyer's books sounds, from the story's description, as if it will be a straight words-to-comics appropriation of existing stories, but there is no word yet on how many books are currently planned. At least for now, though, everyone asking where the "Twilight" graphic novels are has their answer.

Flo, It has actually been out since May...not sure how I missed it....and as if that wasn't enough.... TwiCon Breaking News: Stephenie Meyer to Have Her Own Comic Book It's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... New Moon Author Stephenie Meyer! The creative force behind The Twilight Saga, Meyer has been selected for membership into a very exclusive club. Joining the ranks of Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Princess Diana, she will be immortalized in the comic book series Female Force. The bio comic will examine Meyer's rise to popularity with the Twilight Saga novels, the movie franchise, and her plans for the future. We have it on good authority that the story will be narrated by a very recognizable and iconic vampire. (We're guessing it won't be Lestat.) An alternate 40-page collector's edition will also include a history of Forks, Washington. Bluewater Productions, the publisher behind the Female Force series, aims for the comics to offer "a broad examination of strong and influential women who are shaping modern history and culture." Stephenie Meyer's comic book treatment will "tell her story in a very fun, respectful, and unique way," says Bluewater's President Darren G. Davis. Expect to see Female Force: Stephenie Meyer on shelves near the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon in theaters on November 20, 2009 For the full press release go to http://cache.reelzchannel.com/assets/co ... ocomic.pdf

First Twilight Saga Comic Book Look at Female Force: Stephenie Meyer by Troy Rogers Although the Stephenie Meyer penned Twilight Saga didn't begin as a Twilight comic, a Twilight comic was inevitable given the buzz surrounding New Moon stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor lautner at the 2009 Comic Con. But Twilight and New Moon fans may have been surprised to learn that Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer will soon have her own Twilight comic book called Female Force: Stephenie Meyer, which MTV recently scored a New Moon exclusive sneak peak. During the new moon of last month Twilight reports surfaced about the Female Force: Stephenie Meyer comic book, which features the Twilight Saga author within the Twilight pages and panels of her very own Twilight tie-in comic, Unfortunately for New Moon fans, Female Force: Stephenie Meyer doesn't feature Twilight Saga lead Robert Pattinson. MTV snagged an exclusive eight page Twilight preview of Female Force: Stephenie Meyer, which reveals Female Force: Stephenie Meyer will be hitting store shelves on November 11, slightly over one Twilight week before New Moon arrives in theaters. Although Female Force: Stephenie Meyer isn't a direct Twilight Saga comic, it is the Twilight Saga related story of Stephenie Meyer and how Meyer came to write the Twilight Saga. The cool Twilight thing for fans of Stephenie Meyer and New Moon is that two different versions of Female Force: Stephenie Meyer will be available, with one Female Force offering a 32-page Twilight version featuring an illustrated history of the Twilight Saga Town Forks. Head over to http://www.mtv.com/photos/exclusive-ste ... hoto.jhtml for a Twilight preview pages of Female Force: Stephenie Meyer.

From EW.com http://shelf-life.ew.com/2010/01/20/exc ... hic-novel/ I’m delighted to announce, exclusively, that Yen Press will publish Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 on March 16, with a first printing of 350,000 copies. Here’s a first glimpse at the book’s cover, as well as an exclusive peek at one of its panels (for a full ten-page excerpt, and the entire Q&A with Stephenie Meyer, see the issue of EW that goes on sale this Friday). What strikes me, looking at the book, is how faithfully, and how beautifully, artist Young Kim has translated Meyer’s original vision. Kim, who has a fine arts background—in fact, this is her first foray into graphic novels—didn’t just read the book; she absorbed it. Her Bella is the Bella I had in my mind’s eye the first time I read Twilight; her Edward is the Edward I always imagined. It took me back to reading Twilight pre-movie: Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson faded into the background. Meyer talked to us about all this, and more. Here are a few snippets from our conversation: The text of your original novel is boiled down so carefully that it doesn’t feel like anything is missing. Were you the one who did that? I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak. But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted. For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology. How does the feeling of reading the graphic novel compare to that of reading the original? Does it bring something new to the experience for you? For me, it takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight. It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it. When this project is done, are you done with Twilight? I can’t say that I am done with Twilight forever. I’m not working on anything new Twilight-related now, and probably not for a while. But there’s still a possibility that I’ll go back and close some of the open doors.
