Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' Clip Possibly Aired During Oscars

Rumor has it, a clip of the much awaited 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' could be a part of the 81st Academy Awards' end-of-show in the upcoming-movie montage segment.

A clip from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is likely to be aired during the 81st Annual Academy Awards telecast. Suggesting the possibility was New York Times' The Carpetbagger as it reported that the clip from the sixth "Harry Potter" film could end up as a part of the planned montage shown at the end of the Oscars ceremony.

The picking up of the clip reportedly has been done by Warner Bros. earlier in a staff meeting in which the studio allegedly chose three films to get their clip featured. In companion to "Half-Blood Prince", the two other films to be getting the same treatment are Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" and McG's "Terminator Salvation". Nonetheless, these rumors have yet to be confirmed by the studio.

The 81st Annual Academy Awards will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California on Sunday, February 22. The gala ceremony honoring the best in film for 2008 will be aired live by ABC with Hugh Jackman serving as the show's host. "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "The Dark Knight" and "Milk" are among the nominees up for the golden man statuettes.

Directed by "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" helmer David Yates, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman and many others. Initially set to be released on November 21, 2008, it has been pushed back to see a U.K. and U.S. release on July 17 this year.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Harry has a final date with film destiny: Warner Bros. will open the eighth film in its Potter franchise -- "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" -- on July 15, 2011.

"Deathly Hallows: Part I" is set to unspool November 19, 2010. The studio decided to split the seventh and final book in the Potter series into two movies because of the tome's length.

On Wednesday Warners also announced that is has postponed the release of its holiday feature "Sherlock Holmes" to December 25 from November 1.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince have been magically teleported to July 15 on the release schedule, two days earlier than scheduled, according to AP. It’s the second move for the sixth Potter movie; Warner Bros. originally slated it for debut last fall.

JAPAN WORLD PREMIERE: Monday July 6th 2009
LONDON PREMIERE: Tuesday July 7th 2009
NEW YORK PREMIERE: Wednesday July 8th 2009

We have just received confirmed word from Warner Bros that the Japanese premiere of Half-Blood Prince will take place on Monday, July 6, 2009. The date was first announced at a fan event that took place in Japan on April 19, after which we inquired on the date.

Warner Bros also states that this is the FIRST world premiere, and that two more will take place afterwards in London and New York. The London premiere will take place on Tuesday, July 7th, and the New York City premiere the next day, on July 8th.

At the moment we do not know which of the stars will be attending the Japanese premiere; that information will be made public closer to the July date.

I agree Mel...Emma has turned into a beautiful young woman. She starts university this fall....I read conflicting reports; one said Brown in Rhode Island the other Yale...either way they are impressive.

Ha Ha! That's cute! I love that they didn't cut out all of the teenage romance stuff. I can't wait!

It is being reported that the IMAX release of Half-Blood Prince has been delayed by two weeks, to July 29th; it was originally set to be shown in IMAX theatres the same day as conventional theatres in the US: July, 15, 2009. The reason for the change of date is as follow:

The film will open in 35mm theaters on the 15th; however, it will not open in IMAX theaters until the 29th. Basically what happened is IMAX Corporation signed a contract with Paramount guaranteeing them a 4 week exclusive window if they filmed parts of Transformers 2 with IMAX cameras onto IMAX film (something that is quite a bit more expensive). Unfortunately that was back when Harry Potter was due to open November 2007 and when Warner Bros. pushed back the opening date Paramount was not willing to renegotiate the contract it had signed with IMAX.

A new Half-Blood Prince TV advert was recently aired, showing new scenes with Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Gryffindor Common Room; Slughorn's Potions class; Harry, Hagrid and Slughorn in Hagrid's hut, and much more. Most notable about the commercial is that Harry is under Felix Felicis' charm in the new scenes shown.
