1.06 "B.C": Synopsis

Mick searches for a powerful vampire from Josef's past who is linked to a drug-overdose case that Beth is investigating. While Beth looks into a story involving the death of a model.

RECAP:

After their first kiss, Mick and Beth have gone back to avoiding one another, but that’s about to change. Josef asks Mick to find Lola, a vampire with whom he’s had an on-again, off-again relationship for 100 years; meanwhile, Beth is doing a story on a model who died of a drug overdose during a photo shoot. Both investigations lead to the morgue, where Beth and Mick meet again. It’s awkward at first, but they soon realize that their cases are related: they end up working together as Josef’s “booty call” turns out to be the drug dealer, who has been killing other vampires to drain their blood and selling it to humans as a drug. The vamp blood makes a human feel a bit like a vampire, powerful and sexy, but it can easily lead to fatal overdose. Curious, Beth tries the Vampire blood pop rocks and under its influence, tries to seduce Mick. Mick is very tempted, but he knows she isn’t herself; it takes all his strength to resist her. Later, when Beth learns that Josh and the police are about to raid the warehouse where Lola’s crew cooks up the drug, she tips Mick off. He manages to beat Josh to the punch, blowing up Lola and her operation before the cops nab her and discover that she’s a vampire.

B.C. has got to be the hottest episode to air yet. Shower scene. Need I say more? OK so Mick was a regular Prince Charming of Darkness (haha Candy) and he didn't take advantage of the seductive Beth. Stupid man! Such a sexy scene. Now the real question is, "Will Beth use the Black Crystal that she saved again?" Makes you wonder why they pointed that out. Hmmm...

It amazes me that I'm about to say this but I wanted you all to know that this upcoming Fang Friday May 23rd CBS will be re-airing B.C.

What is this CBS' way to put us Moonlight fans through a 12 step program? To slowly work ourselves away from Moonlight or to slowly kill us? I'm going to need Moonlight Rehab but at least I'll have Moonlight on until we finally figure out something with other networks.

Okay, sorry that was a reminder and a rant. LMAO...So that's my R n' R. Sad I know!

B.C. is by far my favorite episode. I liked the part in the club where Lola was talking to Beth and talking about Mick and turning so she can be with him. I found the part with Beth on Black Crystal very funny and erotic. Mick's face was the greatest part of that scene. Sophia's walk was a little off but she did a great job at being seductive. OMG the shower scene was so hot and steamy . . . REALLY! Love Love Loved this episode.

Ooops totally forgot to do my new review. Thanks for the reminder (flag) Lo.

The camera man needs to be fired! I wanted to see more of Mick in the freezer and who the hell had the bright idea for Josef to toss Mick a towel. REALLY!?

I loved this episode. I liked Lola in this one even though I'm now not a fan of Holly. Can I just say how much I loved Mick's look in the club. OH you know the one when he's looking down and then slowly looks up with those beautiful bedroom eyes. OMG! ::Melt:: Wow!

Seductive Beth was a good change and I liked seeing her come out of her shell and yes the walk was a bit weird but everything else worked. The shower scene was sexy and so erotic you could feel the passion flow from the screen. The two of them have so much chemistry its insane! I can not believe he pulled away from her when she sent in for a kiss. YES I know he's a gentleman and didn't want to take advantage but c'mon! That could have been such a wicked hot scene.

I actually felt bad for Josef in this episode there had to be some real history between him and Lola. All in all this is one great episode.

This episode is one of my absolute favorites. The way he looked at her when she swayed her way to him. The perpetual coolness conversation was perfect, her bicker about how long it takes women to get ready compared to men. Great stuff. The scene inside the club between Mick, Beth and Lola is still intense no matter how many times I saw it. OMG those bedroom eyes of his when he looked up in slow motion was so flippin' hot!

Lets not forget the seductive Beth after she's taken Black Crystal. My heart skips a beat when she was trying to seduce him and the look of longing in his eyes as though he's fighting with all his might to not take her up on her offer and then FINALLY when he goes in for that kiss she pulls away to go upstairs. LMFAO He does that sexy bite of the lip and kinda shakes it off as he follows her upstairs. Now that's sexy!

The shower scene...OMFG. The end. Kidding, we all hoped that they would be doing something else as he followed her upstaies but nonetheless again he showed us that he was a gentleman. He takes her to the shower to sober her up. You know they could have done something like him putting her in there and having some kind of scene where she is by herself with the shower. But NO, they had to put him in there with her, swaying back and forth with very little dialogue. Speaking of dialogue..."Turn Me" Two very small works that made all of us squirm and jump and scream out of seats. That was one of the hottest scenes I've ever seen.

Morning after...Awkward. LOL! It was cute though, she's in his shirt, he makes her coffee and he just sits there and watches her with this knowing grin on his face and probably a little regret. We all know he wanted to take her up on her offers and we would have been okay with that. Okay maybe we wouldn't have been okay with him turning her in her condition but some stuff would have been okay. You know she knew what she was doing, she knew the next morning and was shy about but she knew and I think it was all right with her. It was something she's been wanting to do and the drug gave her the courage to do it.

UGH! What an excellent episode!

Very nicely put, Sis. B.C. is one of Moonlight's very best episodes.

First off, and sometimes this is overlooked but it's important, is that Josef goes to Mick for a favor. This in itself is rare. So much so that even Mick questions it. This tells us right off the bat how important Lola is to Josef. I love the exchange between Josef and Mick in Mick's freezer room. How Mick gently baits him and it always makes me smile when Josef grabs Mick’s bathrobe and throws it over his genitals. Such a man thing to do.

What I like so much about this one is that it's the first time since Beth saved him in the desert that they really talk to eaah other. Sure, they worked in Assested Development to catch the teen vamp on the escort killing spree, but they didn't talk much about themselves in that one. In B.C.. their accidental meeting in the morgue still held that embarassing awkwardness because it's the first time they've seen each other since she kissed him the the Buzzwire parking lot and then ran off. I love the fact Beth feels she must make an excuse for the kiss and gentleman that he is, Mick lets her off the hook (but they both know she's really not -- catch that quirky little smile on his face).

Working together on the Club Valis angle removed some of the uneasiness. I love watching his face as he watches her cross the street toward him. She looks SO hot and he is very affected by this, yet has to keep his cool. However, the look in his eye belies that cool; he can't take his eyes off her.

"Yeah well, perpetual coolness is the vampire's curse."

"Just being human is so lame."
"I know, but you wear it well."

God, I love those lines. Notice she doesn't give it a second thought that the doorman will let her into Club Valis. She knows she's hot.

During the Lola/Beth/Mick scene, Lola utters Alex's favorite line in all of Moonlight:

"Remember darling, half the world is night."

The scene in Mick's apartment when Beth shows up to seduce him is priceless and SO hot. At this point, Mick has been letting himself fantasize about being with Beth and knowing he's now faced with that real possibility, he's hesitant. He knows this can't happen between them yet, but at the same time he's so tempted to let it happen. The affect she has on him is displayed all over his face, but he lets his head (the one that really counts) prevail. Alex's body language is perfect in this scene. Biting his lip as he watches her ascend the stairs, debating if he should actually follow her or not. He knows he must...one way or another...he has to take care of this.

The shower scene is the sexiest thing I’ve seen in ages, much more so than if they had shown them in bed together. He holds her tightly as the water streams down their bodies. He wants her so much he aches and she’s so willing; begging him to turn her. The slip dress clings to her like a second skin and his arms encircle her tightly, he won’t let go. He loves her too much to ever take advantage of her, but he is also fighting his own burning desire. Having her this close and this willing is true torture for him, yet he MUST do the right thing. He has spent most of her life protecting her and in his mind, this is no exception. He is having a problem reconciling his feelings for her. For so long he felt fatherly protectiveness about her, and now he's feeling such strong sexual desire toward her; he just can't quite put his feelings into proper perspective. But....he will.

When she wakes up on his couch, she immediately looks down and realizes he has undressed her and put her in one of his shirts. Her momentary embarrassment disappears when Mick brings her coffee and asks her if she remembers anything. One of my favorite moments in Moonlight is as he sits there, looking at her, thinking of what could have been, and yet talking to her about how being a vampire isn’t a good thing. It certainly isn’t what he would want for her. He longs to be human again, and would never inflict his fate on someone he loved. This is the heart and soul of Mick St. John.

And along those lines, he is repulsed at what Lola is doing to her own kind. Mick’s far too compassionate to allow her sadistic business to survive. True, he is doing Josef a favor, and in turn protecting the vampire world’s secret, but this transcends that. He needs to set as much in his undead world right as he does for mortals in their world; a champion to the end.

He made it his mission to take Lola down and destroy the evidence. He even has a moment of regret as he snaps the lighter on and throws it, telling himself that they were dead already. And another little scene I love is as Beth sees the building explode in flames, she holds her breath until she sees Mick appear unharmed on the roof. He looks over at her as she lets out her breath, thankful he is alive. I love in this scene that both of them silently acknowledging that they care about each other.

Telling Josef that he killed Lola was such a poignant scene. Jason’s facial acting in the scene was great. He knew Mick did what was necessary; had sent him on that mission in fact. But the sadness he feels over Lola’s death plays out so plainly on his face, as it does on Mick’s that he had to kill his best friend’s lover. Although there was no other choice, Mick had to do something that ultimately hurt his best friend. Drowning his feelings in booze and encouraging Josef to do the same is the classic male reaction, human or not.

There is so much emotion and action in this episode. B.C. is definitely one of Moonlight’s best offerings. And such a tease of more of the good stuff to come.
