http://scifiwire.com/2009/07/could-a-mo ... ion-of.phpCould a movie version of the vampire TV show Moonlight rise from the dead? The recent vampire craze born of Twilight and True Blood came a bit too late to save CBS' Moonlight: The vampire detective series was canceled after one season. But it won a Saturn Award for best series on DVD last week, and executive producer Harry Werksman offered fans some hope that a Moonlight movie could offer some closure. "Well, we were setting up in the end of our first season that there was a coming war," Werksman said in an exclusive interview at the awards ceremony in Burbank, Calif. "There was the family from which Coraline came, and it was a royal bloodline of vampires that Mick had been brought into, very much unwanted on his part. I think what we were going to try and do is to have the movie encapsulate the entire second season of the coming war." The series chronicled the casework of detective Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin), who could solve crimes committed by vampires. He was dealing with his own issues with an ex, Coraline (Shannyn Sossamon), who turned him without his consent, and a 400-year-old vamp (Jason Dohring), who butted in with underworld politics. Of course, a movie would require the entire cast to return, and after the show's cancellation, they all booked new gigs. "You know, unfortunately, I think that everyone has kind of moved on," Werksman said. One medium that does not need actors, however, is comic books. "No, they don't need actors," Werksman said. "We could always do comic books, graphic novels, that's true." A movie is not out of the question, though, because lead actor O'Loughlin has told Werksman he's still interested. "I know I talked to Alex just a couple weeks ago, after Three Rivers got picked up, and I was congratulating him," he said. "He's like, 'When are we going to do the movie?' I said, 'I don't know, man. Any time you're ready.'" Moonlight: The Complete Series is available on DVD; reruns currently air on SCI FI Channel Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Not to be a downer but I would not encourage anyone to hold their breath waiting for a movie to come along. It could be years down the line and by then Alex will be too busy being a star on both the big and little screen or vamps could be out and Hollyweird will have moved onto the next thing.

This would be so awesome if they decided to eventually make a movie. Not getting my hopes up, but I'll be ready if they ever decide to.

Harry Werksman, executive producer of the canceled CBS series "Moonlight", told SCI FI Wire that a movie version of the show could offer some closure for fans:
"Well, we were setting up in the end of our first season that there was a coming war," Werksman said in an exclusive interview at the awards ceremony in Burbank, Calif. "There was the family from which Coraline came, and it was a royal bloodline of vampires that Mick had been brought into, very much unwanted on his part. I think what we were going to try and do is to have the movie encapsulate the entire second season of the coming war."
Although they could always explore other avenues such as comic books or graphic novels, Werksman says that he has recently spoken with series star Alex O’Loughlin who remains interested in doing a movie: "I know I talked to Alex just a couple weeks ago, after Three Rivers got picked up, and I was congratulating him," he said. "He’s like, ‘When are we going to do the movie?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, man. Any time you’re ready. ****************************************************************************** Moonlight: The Complete Series is available on DVD; reruns currently air on SCI FI Channel Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. http://scifiwire.com/2009/07/could-a-mo ... ion-of.php ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Check out this video. In his Mega Minute feature for TV Guide, Matt Mitovich talks about Alex O'Loughlin and his tv show, Three Rivers. He asked CBS' Kelly Kahl (Senior Executive Vice President of Programming) what he thought would be the secret to the success of the new series. Kelly's reply.... "It's the cute guy from the Vampire show." Three Rivers has been greenlit for the normal freshman 13 episodes. Of course, there is the option for 9 more if the network picks up the program for a full season.
The Alex stuff begins around the :47 mark. http://www.hulu.com/watch/76599/tv-guid ... lin-update Note: This is not a youtube vid!

http://sophiamyles.org/2009/07/28/moonl ... in-the-uk/This was posted at the Absolutely Sophia Myles • • 'Moonlight' to re-air in the UK: Our messageboard member Chrissy – who’s currently house-bound – spotted an ad on TV saying that ‘Moonlight‘ is soon airing on freeview channel Virgin 1. A little internet digging revealed that the first episode airs on August 10, 9pm and then the series will air regularly Mondays at 9pm on Virgin 1 (source). This is great news for all of you who don’t have Sky, and therefore couldn’t watch ‘Moonlight‘ on Living last year!

A movie would be so very cool. I'm like you all though. Not holding my breath. A war though? What the Duvall's against Mick? Vamps versus the Legion that was mentioned at one point? Glad to hear that the epis are being aired again in the UK.
Always helps to think positively.

Well...I won't hold my breath either but I will try to remain optimistic. I hope they do make a movie b/c there is nothing worse than being left hanging. At least the got Mick and Beth together at the end admitting their love for each other. That's ten times better than what we got for Blood Ties....

I will start this post with a GIANT DISCLAIMER! I am not trying to stir things up but since this article has been picked up by several news sources I felt obliged to post it. Just a word of warning folks... just remember who the head of CBS is and know that she's good at making promises just not fulfilling them! From Tvovermind.com f there's one thing you can say about Moonlight, it's that it was ahead of its time. Vampires didn't really hit it big until late 2008, with the premiere of True Blood and the release of the Twilight film. Moonlight ended its run in May 2008, barely missing the craze that would later make The Vampire Diaries a hit. What might Moonlight have been had it stuck around just a few more months? Well, CBS has been wondering that themselves. In fact, they've been looking to see what they can do to fix their mistake — and that means talking to the cast. “I just want to say one thing – who was out there first with vampires?” CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler asked Fancast. “Who was out there first?” Alex O'Laughlin, who starred in the series as main bloodsucker Mick St. John, stayed with CBS in the new series Three Rivers, which was cancelled early on into the 2009-2010 season for low ratings. However, CBS wants to keep O'Laughlin on the network, and bringing back Moonlight is definitely a possibility on that agenda. “We love [Alex] and want him to stay around for a long time,” Tassler confirmed. But is the Moonlight comeback a possibility? Possibly. Tassler stated that Moonlight's executive producer Joel Silver has discussed a potential return of the series with her, "but we talk about a lot of things," Tassler told Fancast. And even if the decision is made to bring back Moonlight, it wouldn't be immediate. "We’re about to pick up all of our [2010-11 season] pilots,” Tassler stressed, insinuating that Moonlight wouldn't be back before the end of 2010. Of course, the big question that remains from that is: will that be too late? This vampire craze — some might call it a fad — has already lasted a year and a half, but how much staying power does it have? Will we be looking at a possible vampire recession before Moonlight has a chance to regain its footing — or even come back at all? What do you think? Should CBS bring back Moonlight, or should they drop the idea? Source: http://www.tvovermind.com/moonlight/moo ... rave/16832
