I re-read chapters 1-6 all last night...I'm thinking of writing my own ending to be honest...and just picking up from the end of chapter 6.
I recommend breaks whenever humanly possible...it's a lot to take in.

I'm getting there. About to start chapter 26 (pg. 512) It is a lot to read but I'm at a pretty good paste. I went to bed very early last nite so I woke up around 2:00am this morning and have been reading since(w/ breaks). I will definitely let you know when I finish. It will probably be some time tonite.

This won't spoil anything if you haven't read it.
I have to disagree with you guys. I loved this entire book. It was my favorite of the four. I thought it was amazing! I read all night and only slept for an hour knowing full well I would have to get up with my four year old. I just finished it and was sad to see this reaction from you guys, but we all have a right to our own opinions. I thought it was original and never saw any of this coming. I LOVED ALL 754 PAGES. It might very well be my favorite book of any I've ever read. I wonder if this book will appeal to her older audiences more than her younger one? Not sure, but I can say that I absolutely loved it. The only thing I think that may be different is that I think the quality of her writing may be a little better, which would make sense since she's written several books now. I loved it!
Did anyone else love Garrett's speech as much as me? It was everything that I wanted to yell out myself. Those few paragraphs made me very interested in this character. I instantly wanted to know more about him. This is one way I see SM writing getting better and better. In a couple of pages she made me want to know so much more about this minor character. Anyways, just curious.
Also, I don't think this is the last book. She says she has an outline for a book 6. I really think she will be writing it. In case you're wondering why it would be book 6 I think book 5 is Midnight Sun.

I like it, but it isn't my fav at the moment. But I'm not allowed an opinion until I finish. My I just had to take a break after like 12hrs. of reading. But don't worry your little adult heads. This teenager took break. I admit they weren't very long, but they were 5 mins each or so.

****SPOILERS****!!!!! DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE BOOK!!!
******MEGA SPOILERS AHEAD*******
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!!! Stop scrolling if you haven't read the book
Okay, I feel the only way I can really give a fair and honest review is to include some spoilers. I just finished the book about five minutes ago, and I really liked it. Yes, there were some parts that reeked of schmultz. But honestly, after torturing her characters for three books, I think Meyer is entitled to give her beloved characters a little bit of cottage-living, vomit-inducing, happily-ever-after.
Now, this book really brings a lot of very adult and contemporary issues to the forefront. The first two books in the volume is the ultimate in the abortion debate. How far is too far? If a fetus is torturing and murdering the mother, how far should either side push their case? It is almost sickening to read, because while there is so much pain, there is also no easy, moral solution.
Later, the book switches to a seemingly storybook setting. Everything is blissfully ideallic. However, there is a tragic undertone of the child's condition. How much will her life be shortened?
The imprint was an amazing twist. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting it. The healing Jacob goes through represents the power of love--particularly the love of a child. It can mend as well as break the shattered soul.
The almost-battle scene was well-written, and Bella's shielding power is fantastic imagery. She is not so much the aggressive mother bear as she is the maternal goddess, the sphere of her power representing the arms of a mother's embrace.
And yeah, I'll admit that I liked the ending. Edward can now FINALLY do what he's wanted from day one--read Bella's thoughts.

********SPOILERS*******DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED*******
********SPOILERS***************
*******STOP NOW***************
I really don't understand the negativity around this book. I've read a few reviews some positive and some not. I am not a "blind teenager" who would love anything as one reviewer put it, but rather a 32 year old mother. I didn't see any of this coming, but as soon as I read it I thought to myself well this all makes sense. I think what Stephenie Meyer does well in all four books is she takes a very supernatural world and she puts it in a very realistic and relatable world. Remind you of a show we know? I have given birth to two children. One is a beautiful four year old. My other child died. I knew while I was in labor with her that she had already died, and my husband thought that baby was also going to kill me. This is where I can really relate to Bella and Edward in this story. Bella would do anything to save this baby, while Edward would do anything to save Bella. This seems to be the part of the story that people have most of their problems with this book, but I found it to be a very realistic situation in Meyer's make believe world.
I loved the beginning of the book. It was everything I'd been waiting for and I am glad SM didn't make us wait to the end for it.
Also, I felt it was time that Jacob finally got some peace. I mean hasn't he suffered enough. Doesn't he deserve his happy ending.
SM wrapped up all the questions I had in my head. Some reviewers criticize her for doing so, but I think we deserved some answers at this point.
I loved the battle scene at the end and believe we will see that battle take place someday.
I loved the ending. Who doesn't want a happy ending for Edward and Bella? It's not like everything has been easy for Bella and Edward and they haven't had their fair share of troubles. Doesn't everyone deserve some peace and happiness? If it hadn't ended the way it did then I would have been truly disappointed.
Well, I guess it's pretty clear by now that I loved this book.

First off Mickbeth76, my heart goes out to you on the lose of your child, how brave of you to share that with all of us.
SPOILERS TO FOLLOW.................
DO NOT READ FUTHER....................
I have re-read over the book and I'm sorry it just doesn't "feel" to me like the others. It left me kind of cold. And of course, SM was not going to please everyone and she wrote the book for herself. I read a quote on another board that I liked and related to.... "It isn't a bad book it just isn't the right book." Again, please no rocks thrown my way, just my POV.
Just so you know where my POV is coming from I'm 36.
Here are just some of my thoughts/opinons.
I think she could have almost made this into two books. Here is what I was hoping for
wedding, honeymoon, Bella turning, seeing her really deal and come to grips with all those issues and of course some werewolf & Volturi drama. All they spoke about in past book was how hard it was going to be once she changed, instead she just breezed through it. I missed some of the romance feeling for the other 3.
Something in me, not sure even what, does not like Nessie (NAME????)...the whole idea of them having a child just didn't sit right with me. And then Jacob imprinting on her, I know Jacob needs to be happy but he was in love with her mom and even made out with her.
I get the gut feeling BD was in large part to prep everyone for book 6 (Midnight Sun is book 5, which she said she already has 12 chapters done) and I think book six is going to be Jacob/Nessie's story, maybe from Jacob's POV.....?
I did like learing about the other covens but the pace was too darned rushed -- I felt like Jacob when he said he needed a chart to keep up. They all have these special gifts, the pace felt crammed down my throat. Again, she could have explored this into two books.
Now...as I said I don't care for the child thing BUT since it is there I think she missed out on a few good conversations. I would have liked to have heard the conversation between Bella & Rose. I would have loved to have heard what was Esme's, Emmett's reactions to first hearing -- She's pregnant. I guess I really love the Cullen clan and their interaction as a family so I feel a little short changed on that one. Maybe the next few books will show more that....Carlise & Emse adjusting to being grandparents etc...
I was surprised how much of the book is Jacob's POV since this was to be Bella's POV last hurrah.
I must say, I do like Jacob much much more than I did before this one.
As for the happy ever after ending, I wasn't surprised SM did that, she had to, to "finish" this part of the story.
Will I buy book 5,6,7 etc.... of course. I still love the Twilight Series. Who knows maybe the hype was so much that nothing was going to live up to it for me. I'll keep re-reading it and getting more from it. I have softened since my intital post but can't say I drank the Kool-aid just yet on this one..........

Aw, I’m very sorry to hear that Shannon. Like you pointed out certain aspects of your own life may help you relate more to the book than others.
I have yet to read the series so I don’t know the books but I do know people. So lets remember that everyone is different and that goes for their imagination too. I’m sure after reading the last book everyone’s imagination started to think of what Breaking Dawn would be like. Many have such great and wild imaginations that maybe what they “Hoped” for wasn’t was in the book so it was a bit of a let down.
I for one don’t believe that vampires and werewolves would have a happily ever after. I believe in them having some good in their lives and to be happy but not a Cinderella story with a white picket fence and all. Love stories are every where we look it’s nothing new but vampires are a different story. Vampires are dark angels of the night and that darkness, the darkness we don’t see every day is one of the many appeals to us when it comes to Vampires. I feel the same way when it comes to people writing fan fictions Vampire loves a Human and how the story plays out. Many write a Cinderella story and it just doesn’t feel right.
The reason I’m telling you all this is to prove a point. I, myself have my own opinion and way of thinking when it comes to vampires. Other’s might be the complete opposite and welcome the Happily Ever After it’s all a mater of how you decide to see things. It’s okay to have different opinions, remember that.
There is no right or wrong we’re all just readers (of all ages) who love vampires.
